This project was based on researching and exploring chance methodologies and applying them to a piece of design activism using research collected in locations around Detroit determined by chance.
In order to explore chance methodologies each team developed a list of everyday locations in Detroit that had some type of cultural relevance and could, in some way, represent a social issue or a space in which our message could occur. We decided to make a list of 12 parks in Detroit. As a team we chose parks because we both love the outdoors, and parks provide a nostalgia to our childhoods. We then narrowed our list down to 4 locations using chance. We placed the name of each park on a piece of paper, crumpled it up, and let them all roll down a slide at Peck Park. The 4 that made it the furthest were our 4 locations we would research. The results were William G Milliken State Park and Harbor, The Dequindre Cut, Balduck Park, and Dorias Park.

We were instructed to take photos and video without looking through the viewfinder, and documenting as many details as possible.

We embraced the concept of chance and ended up with a vast resource of interesting images. Without having to worry about framing each shot, the results were very authentic.
